Gotham is the general contractor of two new student residence halls on the Fordham University Rose Hill Campus. The project consists of four 7-story buildings located on the historic Bronx campus. The combined 175,000 sf structures will consist of 118 student suites, capable of accommodating 463 students, each with a private kitchen and bathrooms. Unlike typical dormitories found on university campuses, this project will provide “urban lifestyle” housing that offers many modern amenities and technologies. The ground floor will be equipped with a social hall, modern café, and laundry facility. The buildings are steel framed and the exterior is comprised of masonry, windows and a curtain wall system. This will be Fordham’s first LEED project, with an anticipated Gold certification. A retention tank system is being installed on the roof for collection of rain water. Comprehensive site work on the 4.5 acre site includes the installation of a 1,000’ long, 20’ high retaining wall that separates the school campus from the Metro-North Rail system, as well as a new roadway, pedestrian walkways, plaza areas, and landscaping.
