808 Columbus Avenue, the first in a series of planned mixed-use buildings known as the Columbus Square development, is situated on the Upper West Side between West 97th & 100th Streets on three continuous blocks. When complete, it will be one of the largest retail/residential destinations in Manhattan. The developers retained Gotham’s construction management services to oversee the project, which incorporates over 220,000 sf of retail space at the base of the building, offering an unprecedented amount of contiguous commercial space, complete with 23’ ceilings, 700’ of frontage along a major avenue, 4 loading docks, and 36’ column spans. The project will house a number of nationally recognized retailers, including a 56,000 sf Whole Foods Market. Above the 2-story retail base is a 300,000 sf, 30-story, precast and glass residential rental tower, consisting of 359-units that will feature a sprawling 2nd floor amenity space that includes a full-size swimming pool, fitness center and a 38,500 sf landscaped plaza. The project also incorporates a number of sustainable construction features, including photovoltaic solar roof panels, and a co-generator that will recycle energy output into the building.
