The second largest Jewish communal campus in North America, Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center is a comprehensive adult care facility offering skilled nursing, on-site medical treatment and adult day care, all concentrated on the same grounds. Gotham was retained to oversee two separate projects for the center which were completed in two phases and involved different architects. Phase one involved the construction of a new 91,000 sf, 160-bed addition and an alteration of an existing 6,000 sf sewage treatment plant. For phase two, Gotham oversaw the construction of a new 161-unit assisted living facility, also situated on the existing Gurwin campus. Encompassing 160,000 sf, the 3-story building incorporates three residential wings, and offers one and two-bedroom accommodations. Both projects were constructed with masonry-bearing walls and reinforced concrete plank. Included in the overall scope were 8 acres of site work, and construction of a new sewage treatment plant.
